Pretty Scarves and Capricious Thoughts

Fall colors and the need for warmth make choosing an appropriate scarf a fun and practical pastime.  Looking at fall colors while feeling the cooler breezes inspires us to experiment with scarves that can bring out the luster of the season.

Try mixing earth tones with facial tones and see what works best for you.  Ask your friends how you look.  Try new ways to wear the scarves you try on.  If it gets colder just wrap more of your body in the scarf.  Look for generous sized scarves if you want a more practical look and feel.  Experiment with other kinds of fair trade clothing for surprising options.

But fall colors do not have to take on the look of trees alone.  Try different patterns to see what feels and looks best to you.  Certain patterns are more straightforward and others more capricious.  Try your hand at a few and see what works for you.

And, yes, men do like to wear scarves.  Earth tones are an easy sale for a man who wants to add warmth and fashion sense to his wardrobe.  Scarves are practical and very hot fashion items for men.  It might take a reminder and a chance to try on a scarf of two but men will see the value in a scarf if you choose one as a gift or go shopping together.  Whether you are a shopper or retailer, checking out retail or wholesale scarves makes perfect sense; and adding both men's and women's scarves to your focus just adds to the potential.
Handmade scarves require highly skilled artisans who generally make them on pit looms in the village setting.  The larger family unit is generally involved in some way, although fair trade scarves assure you no child labor is involved.  Villages use the added revenue to create sustainable, stable communities, raise healthy and well educated children and keep traditional healthy practices in place.  In addition to requiring fair compensation, fair trade certification requires progressive labor relations, and protections for communities, individuals and the environment.
